The Horizons Fellowship

The Horizons Fellowship supports 200 outstanding university students in their pursuit to become multidisciplinary leaders using technology. Our fully-funded program provides real-world technology courses geared towards high-achieving college students.

Horizons students have gone onto work at a variety of amazing companies – Google, Facebook, Visa, The Stanford Research Institute, Slack, Yelp, Amazon, McKinsey, Bloomberg, J.P. Morgan, EA Games, and more.

Past Horizonites have come from a variety of schools and backgrounds. Students have hailed from Harvard, Princeton, Yale, UPenn/Wharton, Columbia, Northwestern, Babson, Wellesley, Colgate, Brown, Michigan, great state schools, community colleges and more. We’ve had computer science majors, math majors, economics/business majors, biology majors, english majors, and art majors all take our program.

Inaugural Summer Innovation Incubator! Deadline to Apply 6/5/18

The Associate Vice Chancellor for Innovation – Dr. Paul Roben – would like to invite undergraduate students with ideas from all disciplines to apply for the inaugural Summer Innovation Incubator. This is a pilot incubator program and 10 undergraduate students from across campus will be selected to receive a $2500 stipend and participate in the 8 week incubator to develop their idea.

The program is open to all undergraduates who will be continuing in Fall 2018. Students do not need to be a part of any current incubator/entrepreneurship programs or have entrepreneurial experience.

The Horizons Fellowship supports 10 outstanding university students in their pursuit to become tomorrow’s leaders in technology. The program provides immersive software engineering and web/mobile development courses geared towards high-achieving college students. Our full-stack Javascript curriculum, developed by ex-Salesforce, Optimizely, and D.E. Shaw engineers, is designed to teach students how to build web, mobile (iOS and Android) and desktop applications. We have a 4-month spring program and a 3-month summer program in San Francisco, Boston, and Philadelphia.

Past Horizonites have come from a variety of schools and backgrounds. Students have hailed from Harvard, Princeton, UPenn/Wharton, Columbia, Northwestern, Brown, Michigan and more. We’ve welcomed National Math Olympiad winners, USA Computing Olympiad participants, renowned college entrepreneurs, students with perfect SAT/ACT scores, talented designers, photographers, and more as part of our previous cohort. Our program requires no formal computer science background.
