Position: Economist/Market Analyst (Regular Full Time)
Robert D. Niehaus, Inc. is a boutique customer-focused consulting firm, established in 1983 and located in Santa Barbara, California. Our specialization is regional and resource economic analysis applied to military housing programs, water, and the environment. We provide housing market data and analyses; water rate and resource evaluations; project financial feasibility and economic assessments; regulatory impact studies; industry economic impact assessments; and survey services specific to client needs. Our work encompasses locations throughout the United States and in Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. Our staff consists of a dozen professionals with training and experience in economics, public policy, applied research, and government. Duties and Responsibilities
Duties will include market research; housing market analysis and forecasting using quantitative economic modeling, statistical, and econometric techniques; mapping and graphical data analysis and presentation; database management; potential travel throughout the United States, Europe, the Far East, and the Pacific; and technical report preparation in a team context. Candidates must have a strong project team orientation and the ability to work with clients and colleagues of varying areas of expertise.
A successful candidate possesses the following characteristics:
*BA, MA, or PhD in economics with applied knowledge of housing, water, energy, and/or
*Substantial coursework in mathematics and statistics/econometrics
*Demonstrated excellent academic record, measured as a high grade point average
*Strong verbal presentation skills
*Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), database management,
and econometric software.
The following qualifications are useful but not required: (a) Competency in one of the following languages in addition to fluent English – Korean, German, Italian, Spanish, Greek, or French; and (b) U.S. military experience.
