Apply for an opportunity to gain valuable academic and work experience through interning in the office of Assemblywoman Marie Waldron. Assemblymember Waldron represents nearly half a million constituents in the 75th Assembly District, which encompasses a large portion of North County San Diego and parts of Southwest Riverside County. Our office is located in downtown Escondido and is open 9am-5pm Monday through Friday.
This internship is a great opportunity for students to network with elected officials, business owners, and community leaders throughout the district. It will help students get involved in the legislative process while gaining real life work experience in an office environment.
Interns will perform a myriad of tasks geared towards assisting both the legislator and her staff. Potential tasked include but are not limited to constituent correspondence, canvassing neighborhoods, research projects, maintaining and operating databases, working with government agencies, public appearances, public speaking, and administrative assistance for the office.
We are looking for students of every background and do not limit our new-hires to Political Science Majors. No experience is required and training will be provided at the beginning of the interning period. Interns must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel within the district. Weekly scheduling is flexible; however time requirements are a minimum of 3 months or 100 hours. Upon successful completion of the internship, the students will receive a letter of recommendation from the Assemblywoman.
