Governments Division provides timely, relevant, and accurate data on the characteristics and key economic activities of our Nation’s federal, state, and local governments. To ensure we meet this mission, we’d like your help identifying talented students to work with us on these efforts.
Our internship program from this past summer was a success. Governments Division hosted 26 interns with background in Economics, Public Administration, Political Science, and other statistical areas. Interns participated in a ten-week core program that included: subject-matter specific branch work, weekly seminars, a class on understanding federal statistics, and a group project. The program was designed to expose the interns to the broader work of the Census Bureau and to help them develop their analytic skills.
We’re already looking forward to next summer. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with the final deadline of January 31, 2013. As we gear up for another great internship program, we’re reaching out to you to find talented students who might be interested in this opportunity. The attached internship annoucement provides more information about applying for the 2013 Summer Internship Program.
